Rottweilers are very strong dogs, easily able to knock a full-grown and muscular man to the ground. ( This could very well be a Rottweiler behavior problem) This strength makes the dog an excellent police dog, as well as a rescue dog ? Rottweilers placed by NERR&R have been fully temperament tested and have lived in family situations for a minimum of two weeks. NERR&R Rottweilers have been spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and vaccinated before placement. Rottweilers can do well with children if raised around them, but should be supervised around small children due to their sheer size and power. The Rottweiler can do well around other dogs, however can be somewhat combative and can show aggression if not socialized properly as this is a very protective breed of both their family and their territory. Most people are afraid of the Rottweiler just because of the sheer size and strength they have. If raise properly they are a very gentle and loving animal.

Rottweilers love to spend time with their owners and crave attention. They often act like they don’t realize how big they are and love to cuddle up with their owner, no matter how small of a space is available. Rottweilers are usually black, with brown coloring on the face, chest, belly and legs. They will usually grow to between 22″-27″, and weigh anywhere from 85-130 lbs, depending on whether they are male or female. Rottweilers have medium-sized, rugged, powerful builds with dense, straight and glossy coats. They have broad heads with rounded skulls and straight, well-developed muzzles.

Rottweilers can often be controlled using verbal reprimands alone, and while they occasionally require strong physical corrections, some trainers tend to be much rougher on Rottweilers than is necessary. Women have been very successful with the dogs in obedience training. Rottweilers are a wonderful breed and they require a serious and long term commitment by anyone who chooses to own one. Rottweilers regularly rack up high scores in obedience trials. They are often used as service dogs for people in wheelchairs.

Rottweilers were recorded for 37 mauling deaths mostly during the 1990s. German shepherds followed with 17, Huskies at 15, Malamutes at 12, and Doberman pinschers with nine.
