What would you do?
My buddy and I were out sitting on his porch one afternoon when all of a sudden we heard the loudest cry you have ever heard. When we discovered the source of the out cry it turned out to be my Buddie’s beautiful lab dog hit by a car and laying in the road. Naturally who ever it was never slowed down little on stop to render aid. my buddy went into hysterics and that in its self made me unnerved, so I got him to throw me the keys to his truck and I went and got his truck brought it down to the road and we loaded Rascal up into the back and headed for the vet’s office.
Have you ever been caught in this situation?
We got Rascal to the vet’s office and had him taken to the one of the back rooms where the vet begin his examination of him. He went over Rascal with a fine tooth comb. When he got through he was talking to my buddy and told him that Rascal had some broke ribs and one hind leg was broke also. I was standing some distance from the conversation to give my buddy some privacy. When they got through talking he cam over to where I was and told me it would be several hundreds of dollars to fix ole Rascal up.
Between the both of us we only had maybe around $74 and he didn’t know what he was going to do. His only option at the time was to go to his parents and see if they would loan him the money he needed to get his dog taken care of. Fortunately his parents were pretty well off and the helped him out with the bill.
Come to find out this situation could have been avoided!
My buddy’s mom told him that he may not have thought about it but he might come out better if he checked in to getting pet insurance on Rascal for emergencies like this one. Neither of us had ever even knew that you could get insurance on animals let alone thought about it.
He told me that as soon as we got back to the house he was going to look into getting insurance on Rascal. We both knew that it would not help the present situation but where he lived the chances of something like this happening again was pretty high, plus he said that sometimes in the winter Rascal would get sick like we get the flu so it would be a wise investment.
Now he feels a lot easier about Rascal
Long story short, he got insurance on Rascal and said that he was a lot more comfortable when it came to Rascal getting sick and hopefully never getting hit by a car again. But if that situation ever came about again he would be covered.
My question to you is this, if something happened to your pet are you ready for the high cost of getting them taken care of properly, and financially?
